A History of the Peninsular War Volume 4

FNH Audio presents a slightly abridged performance of this fourth volume of Charles Oman's military history classic. In this fourth volume, a detailed examination is made of the period from December 1810 to December 1811. This volume covers the battles of Gebora, Barrosa, Fuentes de Ornon, Albuera and the seiges of Badajoz and Tarragona.

This history, written many years after Napier's, draws its information from more firsthand accounts and corrects some of the more glaring mistakes and biases of Napier. Although this audiobook is abridged, the only text removed is that in French or Spanish, namely Appendix 13. A small number of footnotes scattered throughout the book in those languages have also been omitted. All English text from the appendices and footnotes is present.

A History of the Peninsular War Volume 3: September 1809 - December 1810

FNH Audio presents a slightly abridged performance of this third volume of Charles Oman's military history classic.

In this third volume, a detailed examination is made of the period from September 1809 to December 1810. This volume covers the battles of Ocana, Cadiz and Bussaco. It also examines in detail Massena's march through Portugal to the lines of Terres Vedras, the lines themselves, and his final retreat away in a desperate search for food.

This history, written many years after Napier's, draws its information from more firsthand accounts and corrects some of the more glaring mistakes and biases of Napier.

FNH Audio presents a slightly abridged performance of this second volume of Charles Oman's military history classic.

In this second volume, a detailed examination is made of the months January to September of 1809. The Talavera campaign is examined from both sides using reference materials from British, French, Spanish, and Portuguese sources.

This book covers the entire Talavera campaign, from its inception right through to the near starved retreat of the victors from the field.

This history, written many years after Napier's, draws its information from more firsthand accounts and corrects some of more glaring mistakes and biases of Napier. Although this audiobook is abridged, the only text removed is that in French, namely Appendix 9 and a number of footnotes scattered throughout the book. All English text from the appendices and footnotes is present. Volume 1 of this set is available under the title A History of the Peninsular War 1807-1809.

A History of the Peninsular War 1807-1809, Volume 1


FNH Audio presents a reading of Charles Oman's classic military history "A History of the Peninsular War". In this first volume, a detailed examination is made of the first years of the war, 1807 to 1809. The campaign is examined from both sides using reference materials from British, French, Spanish  and Portuguese sources.

This book covers the invasion of Spain and Napoleon's trickery in luring the Spanish crown into prison. It also features Wellington's first peninsular battle and of course the famous retreat to Corunna and the battle at that place.

This history written many years after Napier's, draws its information from more first-hand accounts and corrects some of more glaring mistakes and biases of Napier.

Although this audio book is abridged, the only text removed is a number of the non-English sections of the Appendix, namely sections 1,2,3,4,7. All English text from the appendices is present.
